A Unique Fortress Overseeing the Danube – The Fortress in Belgrade, Serbia

Belgrade Fortress is located in the heart of Belgrade and is an important historical site in Serbia and Belgrade. The Fortress is the oldest section of Belgrade and was found in the 3rd century BC. It has had many rulers and conquerors from the Romans, to the Byzantines and the Bulgarians.

Today, the park that surrounds the fortress, Kalemegdan Park, is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike as the trees give shade in the heat of the day and the winding paths and nice views of the Danube and Sava rivers.

We walked around the fortress and the park for the morning, enjoying the views and sights the area had to offer.
